A clearer path to
non-surgical care.

Start with an understanding of your knee or spine condition. Then explore the options that fit your health, your priorities, and the way you want to move through life.

Understand your choices

Care starts with
the right evaluation.

A treatment name is only part of the picture. Your symptoms, examination, prior care, and relevant imaging help frame a discussion about what may be appropriate.

Non-surgical spinal decompression

Explore whether a decompression-based approach belongs in your spine care plan. Suitability depends on your condition and clinical evaluation; it is not appropriate for every cause of back or neck pain.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

PRP is prepared from a sample of your own blood. Discuss the evidence for your particular condition, potential benefits, procedure risks, and alternatives before deciding whether to proceed.

BMAC preparation at NeuroSpinal Institute of Broward03

Bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC)

BMAC involves collecting and concentrating a sample of your own bone marrow. Ask about the proposed use, the collection procedure, available evidence, and what results can reasonably be expected.

Rehabilitation & movement

A discussion of strength, mobility, daily activities, and rehabilitation can help shape your plan. Your provider can advise how movement-based care may fit your diagnosis and abilities.

05

Pain-management options

Review the treatments you have already tried and discuss whether other pain-management approaches are appropriate. Recommendations should account for your medical history, medications, and goals.

06

Coordinated next steps

Your evaluation may point toward additional testing, a different specialist, or a surgical opinion. The goal is a practical next step that fits the findings, including when non-surgical care has limits.

Clear expectations matter.

Evidence for orthobiologic treatments varies by condition and remains limited for many uses. PRP and BMAC do not guarantee cartilage regrowth, a cure, or avoidance of surgery. Review the specific procedure, uncertainties, risks, and costs with your treating clinician.

Your priorities. A thoughtful plan.

Four conversations
before treatment.

01

What is driving your symptoms?

Discuss where you hurt, how symptoms affect your day, and what the examination and any relevant imaging suggest.

02

What are the reasonable options?

Compare the proposed approach with alternatives. Ask what is known, what remains uncertain, and why a particular option is being considered.

03

What will the plan involve?

Clarify the procedure or visits, activity guidance, follow-up, potential side effects, and the total anticipated cost before starting.

04

How will we assess progress?

Choose useful goals—such as walking, stairs, sleep, or daily activities—and discuss when to reassess the plan if progress is limited.

Make the visit more useful

Bring your questions.
Bring your imaging.

If you already have MRI or X-ray images and reports, bring them along with a medication list and a summary of previous treatments. You can request an evaluation even if you do not have recent imaging.

Before you decide

Treatment questions,
answered clearly.

Do I need to choose a treatment before scheduling?

No. Request an evaluation for your knee or spine concern. You can discuss treatment choices after your history and examination have been reviewed.

Are PRP and BMAC the same procedure?

No. PRP is prepared from blood; BMAC is prepared from bone marrow. They involve different collection methods and should be discussed separately, including the evidence and risks for the proposed use.

Can non-surgical care guarantee that I will avoid surgery?

No treatment can make that promise. Some conditions warrant a surgical opinion, and recommendations can change with symptoms, examination findings, or response to care.

Will insurance cover the treatment?

Coverage depends on your plan and the specific service. Many orthobiologic procedures may not be covered. Confirm benefits and request a clear estimate of your expected responsibility before treatment.

How many visits will I need?

That depends on the recommended approach and your response. Ask for an explanation of the proposed schedule, follow-up, and criteria for adjusting the plan.
