Clinical experience reported by NeuroSpinal Institute of Broward.
Less pain.
Better function.
NSI reports outcomes from more than 3,000 patients treated for knee osteoarthritis, meniscus damage, and knee injuries, with assessments at 6 and 9 months after treatment. Improvement was defined as pain reduction together with better function.
Initial treatment course: one BMAC procedure and two PRP injections.
Improved after the initial course
Experienced reduced pain and improved function following the initial BMAC and PRP treatment course.
Further improvement with a second BMAC
Had some initial benefit and received a second BMAC procedure to achieve further pain reduction and functional improvement.
Did not respond favorably
Did not experience a favorable response to treatment.
Decisions about a second treatment depend on the individual response. At NSI, we generally do not repeat BMAC when there has been no improvement after the initial course.
Source: internal patient follow-up reported by NSI. These percentages summarize NSI’s clinical experience with the combined BMAC and PRP protocol. Individual results vary, and a specific outcome is not guaranteed.

Put knee pain
in context.
Walking, taking stairs, and standing up help tell the story of how knee pain affects you. Tell us where it hurts, when it happens, and what you want to get back to doing.
The team reviews your symptoms, examination, and available imaging to discuss next steps.

A symptom or an imaging phrase is a starting point. Your examination and history help put it in context.
Knee osteoarthritis
Arthritis can affect the joint surfaces and contribute to pain and stiffness. Discuss what your diagnosis means for movement and daily activity.

A meniscus injury may be part of the picture when the knee hurts, catches, or swells. Treatment decisions depend on the injury and your symptoms.

Bring the report or X-rays behind this description. We can discuss your symptoms and whether non-surgical care or a surgical consultation belongs in your plan.

Understand the language in your imaging report and how the findings relate to the activities that are difficult for you.
Pain with activity
Tell us about pain on stairs, during exercise, while standing, or after prolonged sitting—and what you have already tried.
Pain after surgery
Persistent symptoms after a procedure deserve a fresh evaluation. Bring your surgical records and information from your treating surgeon.
A Plan Begins With Your Story.
We want to understand what changed, how long it has been happening, and the activities you want to return to. Your medical history and prior care matter alongside the examination.
- Listen: symptoms, goals, health history, and previous treatments.
- Examine: movement and relevant clinical findings.
- Review: available imaging and whether further testing is appropriate.
- Discuss: reasonable options, expectations, costs, and next steps.
Explore Your Care Options.
There is no single treatment for every painful knee. Candidacy, evidence, risks and alternatives should guide the decision.
Movement & support
An appropriate plan may involve activity adjustments, rehabilitation, or bracing. We discuss what fits your condition and functional goals.
Pain-management options
Discuss symptom-management approaches and how they may fit into your broader care plan.
PRP
Ask about platelet-rich plasma, available evidence, candidacy, possible risks, and alternatives. Improvement is not guaranteed.
BMAC
Discuss bone marrow aspirate concentrate as a proposed option, including the limits of current evidence and the procedure-specific considerations.
Treatment planning
Understand the purpose of each recommended service, anticipated follow-up, and out-of-pocket costs before deciding.
Surgical consultation
Surgery may be appropriate for some patients. Exploring non-surgical care includes recognizing when another specialist’s opinion is needed.
NSI does not promise cartilage regrowth or avoidance of knee replacement. Recommendations depend on your diagnosis, examination, health history and goals.

Common Knee Care Questions
Does knee arthritis always require surgery?
No. Non-surgical treatment is commonly considered first for knee arthritis. Whether surgery is appropriate depends on symptoms, functional limitations and response to care.
Does every meniscus tear need surgery?
No. Some tears can be managed without surgery. Persistent symptoms, locking, associated injuries and the type of tear can change the recommendation.
Do I need an MRI before contacting NSI?
You can contact our team without an MRI. Bring any imaging you already have; the need for additional imaging is determined through evaluation.
Can you tell me which treatment I need from my report?
A report alone does not capture your full clinical picture. Recommendations require consideration of symptoms, examination, medical history and goals.
Will insurance cover my care?
Coverage varies by service and plan. Ask our team to explain the proposed services, coverage questions and expected costs before treatment.
Where is NSI, and how do I request an evaluation?

What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring your identification, a medication list, available imaging and reports, and details of previous treatments. Share how symptoms affect your activities and what you would like to improve.
What does NSI’s initial BMAC and PRP knee treatment course include?
The initial course described in NSI’s internal knee outcomes consists of one BMAC procedure and two PRP injections. The team discusses whether that plan fits your diagnosis, health history and goals, along with the timing and costs of each visit.
How should I plan for recovery and returning to work?
Ask for instructions specific to your procedure and job before treatment. Discuss driving, stairs, exercise, lifting and any need for help at home. Recovery planning is individualized; follow your treating clinician’s activity and medication instructions.
How can I track progress between visits?
Record both pain and function: for example, how far you can walk, how stairs feel and how easily you rise from a chair. Bring these observations to follow-up visits. NSI’s reported internal knee outcomes were assessed at 6 and 9 months after treatment.
